The collective squeal of excitement that erupted when The CW announced Chad Michael Murray would return to One Tree Hill during the ninth & final season could be heard from California to, well, Tree Hill. And now, for the first time, the actor (who left OTH in season six) reveals exclusively to TheInsider.com why he decided to play Lucas one more time!

“The fans have loved this show and rooted for every character throughout its run,” Chad Michael Murray tells TheInsider.com. “I know how important Luke’s return is for our fans and wanted to give them one last ‘Lucas Scott’ moment. Luke’s return is for them.”

But while he’s coming back for the fans, Chad did have one simple request for creator Mark Schwahn: “I think we just need one last look at Luke’s heart. Character wise, this is Mark’s story and Luke will live the journey he sees fit.”

Reportedly, that journey features prodigal son Lucas returning to his hometown after Haley reaches out for help. But fans can find out for sure when Chad Michael Murray’s return to One Tree Hill airs in early 2012.

In the meanwhile, there are still plenty of ways you can get a CMM fix. Chad’s first graphic novel, Everlast (whichtells the story of the tragic hero, Derek Everlast, as he follows his journey to save the world before the ‘End of Days’), will be released this fall! WTF is this shit I read about Lucas only interacting with Haley/Jamie in the episode he’s back. I mean it’s great Haley and Lucas will have scenes but can’t they squeeze in one Brucas (Brooke and Lucas) scene or is that too much to ask for? They had and still have a huge fanbase that just ask for a nice scene after getting the cold end of the stick the last time around. I’m sure at least 5 minutes will be spent on some newbies and other characters people could care less about. Is this the result of behind the scenes drama or what should I think?

Can we get a decent Brucas scene now?

So I’m not really sure how I feel about the latest news regarding One Tree Hill and a season 9.

Sophia apparently tweeted that she has signed on for season 9 should the CW decide to pick up the series and Chad has talked about what could be read as a guest appearance next season. 

I’ve been a Brooke and Lucas fan since the beginning but I have not watched the show since season 6 due to in my taste catastrophic writing in the later seasons (I don’t even want to think about the writing and storytelling today.

So in one way I’ve been perfectly fine without watching One Tree Hill. And in another not a day goes by that I don’t miss the Brooke and Lucas interaction even just as friends. I know the romantic ship has sailed thanks to Marky but my BL heart tells me even though he was the one who tore them apart  he could give us one last decent BL scene that’s meaningful, real and about them. I’d watch for that and even stand the rest of the crap I’m sure I’d have to witness. Would you?

Remember, it’s only in the black of night you can see the stars and those stars lead you back home.
